A Georgia kind of morning

"We sprang out of bed this morning and found ourselves hanging off the balcony taking photos of the sunrise. It was fleeting due to the mist across the marsh.

Right now however we are sitting in the 'Great Room' of the house smelling the most amazingly delicious smells coming from the kitchen.  Apparently the breakfast at this Blue Heron Inn is renowned.  And delicious it was. A slice of watermelon to start, then a plate with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and sweet potato pancakes with pecans and drizzled with maple syrup.

We walked off breakfast heading a couple of miles up the road hoping to photograph bird life.  We were a bit late in the morning unfortunately and all we got were some buzzards up a tree, a dead armadillo road kill and the local sheriff!!  He pulled up alongside wondering what on earth five women were doing wandering down the road in the middle of nowhere!

Here's some pics of our walk, including Lynn walking a sobriety test!!

Some pics from the Marsh and Kathie with one of the adorable house dogs,

So we soon hit the road for Savannah and arrived to find our house nestled into a pretty little street in the historic district.

Since arriving we have wandered all day, admiring the architecture and all the Squares in the city, a touch of green.

We found Chippewa Square where Forrest Gump's bus bench was situated in the movie.  The bench is no longer there, it's in the Savannah History museum, but look, the feather is still floating around!

So incredibly tired we are having biscuits (crackers for my American friends reading this), cheese and fruit.  That is after Esther and I braved the supermarket.

Now ... For my Australian friends ...CHECK THIS OUT!!! Squeeeeeeal!!!

Here for two nights so we can relax a bit now.
