Lest we forget

We spent the morning at Penshurst, a very little country town, but my goodness I think the whole town turned out for the Anzac Parade and ceremony afterwards. The had counted around 150 people which was a very impressive count.

Mike lead the diggers to lay their wreaths. It means a lot to these gentlemen to have a piper. They told us in years gone by they had no music, just marched in silence. So it's special for them to have a tribute. Such an easy thing for Mike to do, but it means the world to them on their special day when they remember their fallen comrades.

How wonderful for Mike to play! Bagpipes stir the soul.

My mom played today, as well. She plays every year at the cemetery outside of Stone Mountain park by invitation from Daughters of the Confederacy.

Gorgeous photos Carol! I MUST have a DSL, the clarity is fabulous! What a great turn out for the parade. Bella's school marched with our local RSL club this year and I am pretty sure there were about 250 people marching. They had school children read out the resolutions and there was not a dry eye around. It's such a small thing for us to do to share this special day with our veterans but it means so much to them.

Thank you Mike. [just in case they forgot]

My favourite part of the Edinburgh Tattoo is the lone piper - I won't let anyone talk wehile he plays! It's so hauntingly sad yet somehow beautiful!

That is a wonderful thing Mike did for the marchers. It brought a tear to my eye.
