Generations

So I'm a bit of a game show freak, but that aside, I am loving "Talkin' about my Generation" on telly. Well the host could up the ante a bit, but what a walk down memory lane. Hands up who is watching?

Okay ... so I'm the only one then. Hmmmmph.

When they mentioned Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs tonight it really brought me back to another time. They don't still have them on the supermarket shelves do they? I don't think so. I remember the only time we got to have them was specially at Christmas. How funny. Oh and seeing the Tang tonight, I remember that too. Nothing like a bit of fake orange juice to feel healthy. hahaha

But it got me to thinking about Mike, who has been toying with the idea of getting a new suit. The only thing is ... gasp ... he is wanting to get a ... DOUBLE BREASTED SUIT !!! Eeeeeeek. Unfortunately Mike is caught in the twilight zone and thinks DB suits are still in fashion.

Now, Mike doesn't "do" shopping, especially not shopping for clothes, it's his worst nightmare. Recently he asked me to get a new dinner shirt for him and as I was in Geelong I went into a swish men's store in the city. I had the whole double breasted suit discussion with the man who was assisting me. I even got him to write on his business card "DOUBLE BREASTED SUITS ARE NOT IN FASHION" and as an added flourish he signed and dated it, hahahaha, so I could hand it to Mike, who was not impressed that his beloved DB was a fashion faux pas.

So tell me I'm right people. Put me out of my misery because Mike refuses to believe.

Now onto the scrapping front, Jot & Scribble have the most wonderful things on sale at twolittlepixels which really make it a dream when creating beautiful pages. Go check them out. I have a very dear friend who has the most darling little girl who has sent me a stack of pictures that I can use to my hearts content. How lucky. I used Wild Child to create this page, but little Miss S is anything but a wild child. How adorable she is holding onto her cot like that. Doesn't it make you just want to melt.

Quite excited that I have signed up to join in the fun with Katrina Kennedy in her class at Get it Scrapped. Click on the image below to read about it. As I'm having more and more fun with my camera, I have a thirst to want to do better and know exactly what I'm doing, rather than just getting excited and clicking and having hit or miss good photos. Fingers crossed.

That's it from me. Over and out.

Not a creature was stirring ...

Not even a mouse! All is quiet in the household. I can hear Molly softly snoring in the next room, Lucky is asleep up on the couch as the fireplace has made the loungeroom nice and cosy, Bo is in her basket. And I'm here busily scrapping my little heart out.

There's been a Sex and the City marathon on telly on Austar and I've had that playing in the background nearly all day. I'm just about Carrie'd out now! ha. I did escape for an hour and a bit and took some photos around town. Was hoping for some autumn leaves but they seem to have just about all blown off the trees. I stitched about a metre of the border of the quilt, nearly finished but not quite. But I haven't knitted a stitch (sorry Lynne!!).

I am playing catch up with my Project 365 pages and have just hit the start of May. I had such a terrific weekend, the first weekend in May that I decided the Saturday and the Sunday needed a page each, because I had gone overboard on the photo taking. So ... for your viewing pleasure, te he, here's a weekend in my life ...

Oh and if you have your specs on and can actually read my journalling, yes I know I spelt Escape in the first page as Esdape. I had already flattened and saved it when I realised so have left it as that for now and will fix up on my Shutterfly ready page. Credits here.

So now off to bed I go and join the Menagerie in their dreams. Night all.

That was a quick week

Going back to work mid-week and then straight to a training course will do that!! te he Just means I'm going to be busier next week though.

I got a wee bit excited before when I was downloading my emails. I get a regular email from ticketek to see what concerts and shows are coming up and I saw that Doctor Phil was coming to Australia. Woooo hooooo !!! There'd be no way I'd be able to drag Mike there, but by heck I'd find someone. Until I read further and looked at the Arena map. The crappy seats are $109 up to the decent ones at $309. EACH!!!! They sound like scalpers prices don't they? So sadly Doctor Phil will have to go on without me in the audience, I refuse to pay prices like that.

(Fine print ... unless it's Billy Joel!!! hahahahaha)

I have a weekend ahead where I know not what I plan to do, doesn't it sound delicious? Rest and relaxation will be high on the agenda. Mike is away bush and I plan to knit, scrap, perhaps a bit of baking, movie, and finish the border of the quilt. Perfection.

Here's a page I'd like to share, don't let this cute little face fool you, he's on a seek and destroy mission as far as teddy is concerned.

Hi honeys, I'm home !!

Well actually I got home yesterday afternoon from an absolutely wonderful weekend full of laughs and fun and great times and great company. We stayed at Memory Lane Cottages in Granny's Attic (the cottage on the left as you're looking at the picture). It was built around 1830 and was jam packed full of memorabilia. Heck, I opened a drawer and there was a newspaper from 1913 in it !

It was just what we were wanting but were warned in advance that there were steep stairs inside and indeed they were. Very hard on the knees first thing in the morning coming down. But we managed. Can you even imagine in bygone days the ladies in the long skirts toting a baby up the stairs. If they could manage, then by joves we would too.

It was cold though, brrrrrrr. We made sure the log fire was pumping every night, and our beds were really high soft as soft beds with very warm cosy doonas on them and crochet blankets on top of that.

Tassie for the weekend for us was to grab a hire car straight from the airport and head immediately to Cadburys !! A girl has to have priorities right? And besides, they're not open on weekends. Lucky they had a post it home service, Mike was astounded when he saw the big box arrive in the post today. ha. We helped the economy of Hobart at Salamanca Market on Saturday, decided that Mt. Wellington was a bit hairy so went up Mt. Nelson instead for a view of Hobart. Enjoyed a lovely day on Sunday roaming about the countryside. I am in love with Richmond, meandering through the little shops of crafts and antiques. The day was still cold but sunny. Perfect for travelling. Went fruit liqueur tasting at a Fruit Farm in Sorell and just had a lovely time driving about, everywhere you looked there was a vista for the eyes (not to mention the camera).

So here are some of my images of Tassie from the weekend. Enjoy.

A bit scary when you can't even see the top of Mt. Wellington, the view from Salamanca Market, no way was I driving up there!!
Can't see the top of Mt Wellington

Drove up Mt. Nelson instead for a lovely view, here is Bruny Island.
Photobucket

I am seriously in love with Richmond, I could have spent all day there.
Photobucket

Too bad the sun was where it was, but you have to make do when travelling right?
Photobucket

I adore Richmond Bridge, the oldest bridge in Australia.
Richmond Bridge

Oh, did I say I liked Richmond Bridge?!?
Photobucket

When not taking a picture of the bridge, I was taking a picture from on top of the bridge, LOL.
Photobucket

Then back on the other side of the bridge!! te he.
Photobucket

Very happy ducks floating up the river.
Photobucket

Then up to St John's Church which was just beautiful, I lit a candle for my dad.
Photobucket

Don't be fooled by that blue sky, it was cold!!
St Johns Church Richmond

I had to go visit the old cemetary, just to see how old the headstones were, such history.
Photobucket

How's this for an array of fruit supplied by the fruit farm at Sorell.
Photobucket

Loved the red in the old strawberry patches.
Photobucket

More from the fruit farm.
Photobucket

Somewhere on the road back home, vistas like this all round, thank heavens the girls were keen on stopping the car for my photographs.
Photobucket

Funny how with the above photo I was facing one way then the minute I turned the other to the setting sun, the colour was completely different.
Photobucket

Then all good things do come to an end, Monday came too soon and we were back in the plane flying home, absolutely rested and relaxed. I was sitting next to Lisa on the plane and she looked out the window and said "Bye Hobart, bye uninterrupted sleep, bye having my dinner while it's hot, bye having my cup of tea in one sitting" te he. Not that she'd trade it for the world you know, but it's nice for that little bit of time out.

Oh but before I go and I'm sure she won't mind (I hope!!) but I got to meet Jodie from Sharon's twolittlepixels team. We met for a coffee and cake, it was so lovely, never having met before, but it was like meeting back up with an old friend. Hey and check out the scarves, could they be any more similar? LOL

Night all, I'm off to a training course tomorrow so it's an early start, so to bed for me!

Time out

Do you ever feel you need a bit of time out? It's nice to leave your life and have a break for a little bit. That's what I'm getting to do this weekend, well actually this very long weekend starting tomorrow.

I'm heading away for a girls weekend, four of us girls from town, we're all leaving our husbands, children, housework, cooking, cleaning, pressures, responsibilities, ordinary day to day lives and heading over ... to ... TASSIE !!! YAY! Where we will be staying in a beautifully cute bed & breakfast, doing a lot of relaxing, shopping, chattering, eating, no housework, sightseeing, and having a chocolate eating good time with each other. Sounds like not a bad swap huh?

Now I'm just looking at what I want to take and my itty bitty bag as we picked up cheap carry on luggage only tickets. hahahahahaha Oh dear. Although I just got an email from one of the girls and she's upped her ticket on the way back home to 20kg checked luggage, just in case we all go wild at Salamanca Market which is a distinct possibility.

One other fun part of this whole escapade of ours is that I will be getting to meet a digi friend in real life. I wonder if anyone can guess who it is? You'll have to wait till I get back if you can't guess.

I'm way behind on the 365 pages, not the photo taking, but the putting together, so playing a bit of catch up here.

I found a fabulous new use for Anna Aspnes' hipster swirls here, hiding a double chin!! hahahahahaha.

Now off to charge up my phone, my camera batteries, and despair over my bag! Plus I have a hair appointment this arvo, I want to wash and vacc my car. Eeeeek. Plus washing and ironing to do today.

Mothers Day

Hope all the mum's out there had a lovely mother's day and if you are not a mum, then you told your mum or other special women in your life how much you love them.

I went to Geelong and took mum out for lunch, a special mother's day lunch at the Grovedale Hotel, it was delicious. Champagne, three course meal, rose for all the mum's (myself included!!), lovely piano playing in the background. Hmmm, notice how I mentioned the champagne first, yikes! It was a lovely afternoon.

I am blessed to have four beautiful step-children, two dogs and one cat, all who look to me as a "mum". I am also blessed to have a mother I love with all my heart. And her best friend (seen below in the carousel shot) who I think of as a "second mum". I am very lucky.

I wanted to feature one of my beautiful stepchildren in a special page. I love this photograph of Miss T and I. How lucky I am since day one with Mike, the four kids have been loving and kind and supportive of me and our relationship together. They are a credit to both their parents.

And Lynne, without further ado, here are some knitting pictures!!!! At long last. Do they fit with your textured knitting KAL? The socks I knitted mum for mother's day in Collinette Jitterbug in Zebra colourway, most perfect for the Collingwood supporter in your life, haha!

Photobucket

And this, my friends, is how much of the skein was left over. I only *just* made it.

Photobucket

And, well I don't think mum will ever make a foot model, but here they are in a mannequin parade!

Photobucket

I do so love knitting with these variegated yarns, you never quite know what they're going to turn out like.

Hmmmmm...

So I say to Mike last night after I had done something or other, I can't even remember what it was, just that I was being particularly bright or smart or helpful ... I say to him "so where would you be without me?" And quick as a whip without even thinking he replies "I'd be an eligible bachelor".

Too quick a reply my love!

Using the fabbo new collaborative "Green" kit by creashens and Joana Carvalho. Lots of yummy goodness to play with in that kit.

Seriously though, I need a vote please. Who thinks Mike needs to do something with these glasses? He hasn't had his eyes checked in donkeys years and these are for when his eyes are tired and he needs to see distances. I remember being at the local football match watching his no. 1 son umpiring in this photo, hence needing the glasses. But he needs to mod it up a bit, am I right? I will need to drag him to OPSM kicking and screaming.

So I still had more photos to share from last weekend, I told you I gave the camera a real workout didn't I? There's a fabulous carousel down at the waterfront. I couldn't help grabbing my mum's bestie for a ride, the rest of the stick in the muds didn't want to go, Mike sat there giggling and snapping. Well we had fun anyway. You're only as young as you feel right? And ... well ... the kids in the line didn't seem to mind, ha! I think the fact I wove to the camera every time we did a loop on the carousel seemed to negate our coolness of being on it.

Photobucket

This carousel really is beautiful and was restored from an old carousel. I took photos of some of the originals that they have displayed there. From old to new.

Pretty huh? There's something very magical about these horses.

Fly by posting

I think I've used this heading before, it's a good stand by when it's late, you want to post something, but need to go to bed badly !!! ha.

Creashens is being featured at The Daily Digi at the moment, go stop by and read all about this amazingly talented designer that I'm lucky enough to call my friend. And while you're at it, pick up her fabulous Swell Set from The Daily Digi all yours for nix. It's fabulous.

I was lucky enough to play with her Sprung kit, it's absolutely wonderful, chock full of beautiful bright colours that will put a definite sprung into your step! LOL. It was perfect for this cute as a button photo I took of Lucky. He really is such a little poser, he's had to get used to the camera, it's ALWAYS out! Funny how both he and Molly will actually stop what they are doing, look up adoringly, wait for the click and then go on about their business. They've been trained well!!

Topping yesterday in the fun stakes!

I thought yesterday was fun enough, but today I outdid myself. I am living a varied life at the moment, I'll grant you that. It's certainly good fodder for my Project 365!

My father-in-law crews on the Enterprize in his spare time. I don't know whether he's got a bit of sea dog in him, but at 70 years of age he is like a man half his age and comes alive when he is out on the water, he loves it. And what magnificent ship it is.

Photobucket

And today was a terrific day. We made the trek to Geelong to go for a sail on the Enterprize, they were doing one hour sails on Corio Bay. It was ABSOLUTELY MARVELLOUS. And my FIL was like a kid, he was showing us all round, where he sleeps on overnight voyages, all the ropes and sails, he was so proud and we were very proud of him. It had been arranged for Mike to play his pipes on the voyage which was a real treat. And the crew were all dressed as pirates which added to the festivities. And it was so beautiful out on the bay.

I rather got a fright when we arrived and Andrew started climbing up the ropey thing so I could get a better view of him from the pier. You can't see how high up he is here, but he was up quite high! Although just quietly I think he quite enjoyed all the cameras clicking!! (Like father like son huh?)

Forgive all the photos, but I really gave my camera a good work out. These are just some of the 150 photos I took on the voyage!!!!!!!!!!!!

We actually had a second reason for going to Geelong today. Mum's best friend (friends since they were about 12 years old) came down on a bus trip from Drouin. We love Pam and Tom, they are just the best and have always been like second parents to me. So their bus trip took them to Smorgy's (perfect! right next to the Enterprize) so we had lunch with them, then walked along the waterfront. Those photos can be for tomorrow.

It's been a huge weekend and well past my bedtime.

Fun fun fun today

I did mention I had a big weekend ahead. Today we went to Halls Gap to the Grape Escape. We go nearly every year, a fabulous food and wine show. Absolutely tired on my feet right now, but what a wonderful day. Lots of yummy foods and more wine than you can throw a stick at. Mmmmmm. Here's some pics from today. Halls Gap is probably one of my most favourite places to go and I could quite easily live there.

One of the many side roads.

To our surprise a kangaroo hopped down the main street! And straight into a person's front yard.

Photobucket

Then posed in the garden for a photograph, LOL.

Photobucket

And finally ... one of my main reasons for going this year was to see Fast Eddy cook again. He's just lovely!!!! Poor guy, after Mike asked to take my photo with him, he had a line a mile long of women wanting the same photo!!!

Photobucket

Now I ask you, how can I top a superb day like today? You'll have to come back tomorrow and see what photos I come up with next. Hmmmmmm. :-)
