My darling dad

EJW
15 November 1939 - 25 December 2007

My darling dad passed away in our arms in hospital late afternoon on Christmas Day, aged 68, after a most brave and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

He fell the day after my last post and was rushed to hospital as he had stopped breathing and we have been by his bedside all day every day ever since until Christmas Day. The funeral is on Monday.

Mum has lost her life partner, married to him for 44 years. My brother and I have lost one of the best mates we'll ever have.

Very sorry to hear your sad news. It's so hard to lose a parent and at such a young age too.

What a lovely tribute to your dad. He must have been a wonderful father to have you remember him that way. I am sorry for your loss of his company and your mom's loss of her life mate.

Carol, you and your family are in my thoughts - I'm so sorry to hear this and wish I could offer words of wisdom - even though I've been through it too, there's not much that words can help with. Time will help, and sometimes you'll be able to think about your dad without crying, and sometimes you won't. But that's ok, you just do whatever you need to do to cope. And as Amy says, be gentle with yourself. Hugs to you, and your mum especially.

Just came across your blog via Tracey and am adding my condolences. Looks like you lost your dad way too early. I'm so sorry. I've lost mine as well, but he was 86 and we knew it had to happen.... still it was hard. Always is hard to lose a well-loved parent. Hugs to you and yours.
