Like old times

Well it was like old times tonight with the Chaser boys back on telly. Couldn't help myself, had to watch them. Not that I'm into politics, but it was so much more entertaining than the debate last Sunday.

And after last Sunday life went back to normal. No more Masterchef :-( On Monday we looked at each other at 7.30pm and thought, what now? Great win for Adam. But let's face it, for anyone involved on the show, they'll all have a leg up in the food industry purely because of the exposure Masterchef has given them. All the best to all of them.

Have you visited twolittlepixels lately? Lots of grab bags to be had. And lots of great scrapping goodies to add to your collection. So run, don't walk, this week only. Here's a page I made with goodies from the grab bags from [ksharonkdesigns] and Roadside Designs.

My sister-in-law's crazy dog Tilly. She is a Gordon Setter and such a gangly girl. This is how she likes to sit on the garden furniture outside.

Masterchef here I come

The finale tonight. Who's it going to be? Adam or Callum? Well if I had to pick one I have to say Adam will be it. Callum, if you make yet another chocolate fondant tonight I will surely scream. Can't wait. I've planned a Masterchef dinner tonight too, our favourite things. Roast pork and for dessert pavlova. Well, you can't have the finale tonight without having something special to tuck into too.

Speaking of Masterchef, I've found two of the websites of my favourite contestants. Alvin's Cinnamon Pig. I soooo want to try out that drunken chicken dish. And my favourite contestant Claire's Cooking from the Hearth. I can actually see myself trying her recipes, there's a fabulous steak and mustard butter one on it I will be trying very soon. Yum.

Yesterday I went on the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk. I had signed up to the Geelong walk, and it was a lot of fun. Can you even imagine - 1,111 photowalks happening across the world on the one day with 33,483 photographers seeing towns and cities through fresh eyes, making new acquaintances and enjoying their art with like minded people.

Two hours enjoying taking photographs down along the waterfront, the colourful bollards, the beautiful bay, here are some of my photographs.

Shall upload some more later. They are by far not fabulous, considering some of the camera and lens envy I was having with the other particpants, but I'm happy with them, and my representation of the day.

The world turned upside down for me

Span off its axis or something like that. Mike actually got up earlier than me today!!! He's usually in bed when I go to work (one of the biggest irritations of my life). Okay so he says even though he's still in bed, he still starts work earlier than I do by the time I get to work. But that's not the point.

But today at just after 6am he got up. Showered. Dressed. Fed the menagerie.

I need to say again - this NEVER happens.

So I come out to the kitchen and the telly is on. Mel and Kochie. Urrrgh. I stopped watching them years ago. I usually have the Today show on. This threw me right out.

Plus he'd made breakfast for me. Doesn't he realise I usually just have a cup of coffee and a small bowl of sultana bran? No. Here was a big steaming bowl of porridge for me. I couldn't hurt his feelings, it was nice he made it, so I had to eat it. I showered it with sugar and then took a bite. Urrrrgh. It was salted porridge made the Scottish way. Salt and sugar together. Not good.

So you know that big irritation I have about him not getting up with or before me of a morning? I'll never say that again. I want my nice quiet pottering around solo morning back.

Here's another one of my AAM pages. This challenge was a "when I was your age" challenge, but there are no rules so I made it a "then and now" page. Made me giggle when you think what was acceptable back then and what is the norm now.

Oh crap, a visitor

How do you get rid of an unwelcome visitor? Well I've just learnt you don't run around the loungeroom pointing wildly near the door yelling "a frog a frog a frog". It just puts the frog into a frenzy jumping around.

Can you believe it? Just gone 9.30pm, I walk across the room and there halfway between the fireplace and the doorway was a frog. WHAT? HOW? WHEN? Did it just hop right on in the door after me? I know it's been wet outside, but ... A FROG?!?!?!?!

Hero Mike to the rescue.

Thought I'd be self indulgent and I'd catch you up on another AAM page (all about me challenge being run at Designer Digitals). How very decadent talking on and on about yourself, and how very boring for you to have to view, ha! Credits all Designer Digitals. The challenge was about what makes you smile.

Before I go I must copy/paste an email I just received from one of my friends here in town. Sit back and enjoy.

LIFE EXPLAINED

On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created humans and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'

But the human said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?' 'Okay' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

Another Sunday nearly over

Heading into late afternoon on a Sunday, I get the Sunday blues, the weekend is nearly over. Although we are having leftovers for dinner tonight, so at least I don't have to cook. Oh and I went to the market on the village green this morning and picked up a blackberry and apple crumble for dessert, so even better!

I made the most delicious chicken casserole with thyme and parmesan dumplings last night. When was the last time you had dumplings with your casserole? Delish. All due to Masterchef, I get a bit excited in the kitchen on the weekend and have been making things I've never made before. This time I grabbed the last Burkes Backyard magazine and picked a recipe. Mike is enjoying the change of pace than the normal same old same old dinners I make. I don't think he wants Masterchef to finish for fear I'll go back to my old normal dreary recipes.

So tell me, is there life after Masterchef?!? I don't want the series to come to an end, I'm enjoying it even more than the last series.

Short and sweet

Happy 4th July to my American friends.

And I actually have had a 4th of July in America, it was a crazy crazy day back in 1987. Although way back then I had a silly little camera that the photos are fairly fuzzy now, but the memories still remain.
